G-Star and VICE present ‘Hidden New York’

A guide to New York nightlife

G-Star and VICE have teamed up to create ‘Hidden New York’,  a short documentary style film hosted by journalist Kim Taylor-Bennett that follows her on her mission to meet New York fashion scene insiders to create the ultimate guide to New York’s nightlife scene.

Avoiding anything too ‘fashion-oriented' or overly ‘stylised’ this documentary gives an authentic view of real New York nightlife through the eyes of those working within the fashion industry.

The New York insiders include top door girl Lyz Olko, local stylist Annette Lamothe Ramos, photographer John Swain,  journalist Karley Sciortino and  DJ and style icon Becka Diamond. These are the creative’s that inspire the collections and trends, the cultural curators who live and breath New York nightlife.

Lyz Olko is an insider who has been working the door of New York’s most talked about parties for over a decade. Kim meets Lyz at Hotel Delmano where Lyz recommends The Jane Hotel along with restaurant/bars Bacaro and Little Frankie´s for Kim to visit.

Next we meet Annette Lamothe Ramos, Vice Fashion Editor and top New York Stylist; together with cult photographer John Swain they run popular night "All Babes Everything" at New York’s famous Jane Hotel. Kim meets them for Brunch at Williamsburg’s Cafe Colette  and they discuss their favourite places in New York for Kim to check out including the Williamsburg Party Bus, the vision of "Spotted Pig" restaurant owner Ken Freidman.

Karley Sciortino is a journalist who has achieved transatlantic success not only with her blog, of which she recently published her first book, but her writing for Dazed, Vice, Interview and Sup Magazine. Karley takes Kim to the launch party of the latest issue of Sup and recommends Kim stops by night club, Home Sweet Home, for Lauren Dillard night "Filth".

Finally Kim meets DJ, style icon and former Nylon TV presenter, Becka Diamond. She takes Kim to a secret location in Bowery on the Lower East Side and recommends that she visit Don Hill´s and The LIT Lounge whilst in NYC, as well as Kim’s own favourite spots, underground basement bar Submercer  ending up at the famous  home of runway shows, exhibitions and fashion shows Milk Studios.
